Since 1922
A century of Eibar gunmaking
Ignacio Ugartechea founded the company in 1922 in Eibar, the Basque town that has made guns for centuries.
From the start the workshop was self-sufficient. It bored its own barrels, did its own hardening, bluing and chroming, and stocked every gun in oil-finished walnut. Nothing was sent out.
Ugartechea was the first Spanish company to build over-and-under shotguns. Its guns have been made for heads of state and royalty, and for some of Spain’s best-known hunters and competition shots.
Craftsmanship
Made in Eibar, piece by piece
Every Ugartechea starts as forgings for the barrels and action. Each part is machined, then fitted, regulated and finished by hand before the gun is proofed at the Eibar Proof House.

Ugartechea today
Back in production in Eibar
Production paused in 2015. Under new ownership Ugartechea has since been reorganized, reinvested in and relaunched. The workshop is building and exporting again, with the same models and the same methods.
